Eli Roth’s ‘The Green Inferno’ Plot Details

When word first hit the web with Eli Roth’s upcoming The Green Inferno there was a lot of speculation as to what exactly the film was going to be about. Many people believed that Roth would be  visiting his love for films like Cannibal Holocaust and making a film about cannibals himself. It turns out they were exactly right because Variety is reporting that the film, “follows an idealistic student and a group of naive do-gooders who are captured by cannibalistic Indios after their plane crash lands in the Peruvian jungle.”

Shooting is set to begin this coming fall in Peru and Chile. You don’t see many good cannibal movies these days so it’s nice to see a guy like Roth stepping up to the plate and bringing his disturbing vision to the genre. Cannibal Holocaust is one of the most controversial movies ever made due to the fact that many living animals were killed on camera, making the film extremely hard to watch for people who have a soul. In today’s day and age a filmmaker would never get away with such horrible things, but as far as the shock factors goes, there isn’t many people better than Eli Roth when it comes to hard to watch scenes. I think Roth is a perfect fit for this type of film and I’m hoping this will revamp his desire to be behind the camera again because the world of horror would greatly benefit from it.

The Green Inferno marks Roth’s return to the director chair for a feature length film in quite some time. He’s currently working on the upcoming Netflix series, Hemlock Grove.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

  1. Hostel and Hostel Part II are two of my favorite horror films. I can’t wait to see Roth back behind the camera.

    1. I’m also a huge fan of Hostel. Ever since Hostel II underperformed at the box office, Roth has pretty much disappeared, so I’m really hoping he finds success with Hemlock Grove and now this because I’d really like to see him behind the camera more!

    1. Yea same here, I have high hopes for this since it’s his first feature film in quite a while and I hope to see much more from him!
