It’s exciting to see all of these horror oriented TV series in development because television is a great place for horror to thrive in. NBC is hell bent on establishing themselves in the world of all things horror and putting it right in our living rooms. Currently they are hard at work on The Munsters reboot with Mockingbird Lane which will feature the most famous of Universal’s monsters as well as a Hannibal series which stars Mads Mikkelsen. Also in the pipeline is a Frankenstein series. So it’s quite obvious what NBC is trying to do and I for one am very excited to see all of these come to life because much like horror movies these days, a good story is hard to come by.
Now if that wasn’t quite enough, fans of the vampire genre will be happy to know that NBC has just recently ordered up a 10 episode Dracula series with Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the Count himself.
“Dracula (Meyers) arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.”
I think Meyers is a wonderful choice to play Dracula, he actually fits the role quite well and is no stranger to a big TV series considering his work in the hit show The Tudors. I wish NBC the best of luck with all of these TV shows and that they thrive in the world of horror that we all love so much.
This sounds interesting. I will have to keep an eye on it. I had not heard of this project before.
I’m pretty excited for all of the TV series that NBC is coming out with and I definitely think Meyers is a good fit for Dracula. Hope it’s good!
I only know Jonathan Rhys Meyers from Bend it Like Beckham but it’s certainly a show I want to see.
He’s definitely not very well known outside of his TV show The Tudors which is why I think he’s a good choice, and he kind of already has the vampire look haha.
Judging by his pictures, yes definetely! And I know The Tudors is on television here somewhere, I’ve just never seen it, haha!
