AMC Gears Up For ‘Area 51’

Just last week NBC announced their plans to release a series based on the iconic Dracula which marks just one of many horror related TV series in development. This is really an exciting time for all things horror because it seems to be making a huge comeback on the small screen. That being said, AMC home of the huge hit The Walking Dead looks to be bringing in another series with a ton of potential in Area 51.

AMC will be teaming up with Gale Anne Hurd who is a producer on The Walking Dead and has also worked on classic films like The Terminator and Aliens.

From The Hollywood Reporter,“Published in May, Jacobsen’s book revolves around the famed military installation in the world that has never been acknowledged by the U.S. government and explores the myths about the area and those who believe that region is home to aliens, underground tunnel systems and nuclear facilities. Jacobsen interviewed 19 men who served on the base and additional servicemen who were employed there. AMC’s entry will take place in the 1950s-1960s and will focus on those who work at the base and protect the country’s secrets — including the remains of the alleged alien crash at Roswell.

I love the idea of this taking place during the 50’s because that time period translates so well onto the screen. Look at Mad Men for example, it’s not only one of the best shows on television but it’s easily the best looking. Throw some aliens in there and we might have yet another awesome show on the horizon from AMC.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

    1. Yes I’m really excited to see what they do with this and I wish it was still cool to wear fedoras! I’d be all over that.
