Vera Farmiga Can Go A Little Mad Sometimes As Norman Bates’ Mother

Back in July it was announced that A&E will be bringing us a never before seen look into the life of Norman Bates with a new TV series titled Bates Motel which will serve as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic horror film Psycho. It’s said that the series will examine the twisted relationship between Norman Bates and his mother.

Playing his mother, Norma Louise Bates, is the talented Vera Farmiga. You would probably have a hard time finding someone who would argue with this choice. Farmiga is an extremely underrated actress who’s been nothing but fantastic in all of her roles to date. Hopefully with this latest announcement we will soon be getting word on who A&E has their eye’s on to play the iconic Norman Bates. Of all the upcoming horror related TV series this one has to be by far my most anticipated simply because it’s going to be a fascinating new look into the early life of one of horrors most legendary characters.

The series has already been ordered for 10 episodes which will premier in 2013.

  1. It’s great to read the news of this on here instead of Yahoo! where everyone seems to think their opinion is the only one that matters and know what’s best for everyone else. I like Vera Farmiga. I thought she was great in The Departed and I liked her as the mother in Orphan. She’s a good choice.

    1. Oh man, I can’t even imagine what Yahoo! would say lol. But you’re completely right, she’s a fantastic choice and one that isn’t expected which is why I like it so much. Hopefully whoever plays Norman Bates is outside the box as well.
