Ridley Scott and Scott Free London have put the pen to paper in a deal with Focus Features International and Orchard Media with the aim to produce low-budget horror films. The plan is for Scott to produce six different horror, thriller and sci-fi films over a three year span. Having just come off of Prometheus and announcing the upcoming sequel; Scott seems to have found that old horror flare in him.
“Our target is to create a structure that enables filmmakers to push boundaries and to excite audiences,” said Scott. “Our proposed model of filmmaking allows us to give helmers the opportunity to really innovate through narrative, production techniques and distribution strategies.”
“There’s an appetite and market for high-concept low-budget films,” added Focus Features. “That, combined with Ridley Scott’s pedigree, will be very attractive to international buyers.”
The future is looking great for the horror genre with news like this. Scott’s vision is unmatched and putting his creative mind to six different horror films could become something big. We will have to wait and see what comes of this, but as of right now with the horror genre in desperate need for a boost, this could be what we’ve been waiting for.
