It’s pretty crazy how long Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way has been in development for the upcoming adaptation of The Twilight Zone. Throughout the years the film has seen its ups and downs with many writers and directors dropping out of the project with Matt Reeves (Let Me In) being the most recent.
No word yet as to who might helm the project but we do have more details on the plot-line of the film. Before, all we knew was that it was that the producers are planning on making the film one big continuing story line base on one or more episodes from the original series by Rod Serling. In a recent Vulture article the story is said to center around “a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper — 96 years late.”
Still pretty vague but it’s certainly better than nothing. I’d like to see DiCaprio star in this with Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) or Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men) take the helm. Those two are — in my opinion — the best sci-fi directors working today; each with a fantastic vision to suit a film in the Twilight Zone.
