A New Look At The Mysterious ‘Elysium’

Since his successful sci-fi debut of District 9, director Neill Blomkamp has been quietly developing his next film Elysium in which he has has pulled together an all-star cast of Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, Matt Damon, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga and Diego Luna. As a huge fan of the sci-fi genre as well as District 9, I couldn’t be more excited to see what Blomkamp has in store for us as he has kept his latest project under tight wraps which is no definitely no easy task these days. Thanks to Sony we get another awesome look at a bald Matt Damon holding a ridiculous looking weapon called the Chemrail.

Sony plans to release the film on August 9, 2013.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”

For you sci-fi lovers; were you a fan of Blomkamp’s debut film District 9 and are you excited to see what he can do with such an amazing cast this time around?

      1. I’ll watch it with an open mind and with as little reservations as possible, I’m just wary. Damon looks like a total badass though.

    1. It’s pretty crazy that with such an amazing cast the film still managed to stay extremely secretive. Impressive! Also, bald Matt Damon is a pure badass.
