Premiering at Fantasia Film Festival was the hit documentary My Amityville Horror from IFC Films and now has a release date set for February on VOD. Directed by Eric Walter, the doc follows Daniel Lutz; one of the survivors of the famous Amityville hauntings.
In 1974, the now famous house became a place of fear for the locals when 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo murdered his entire family. The house didn’t become popularized until after the book The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson released in 1977. The book went in depth on what happened not to the DeFeo family, but to the Lutz family that lived their one year after the massacre. What happened to the Lutz family is what really sen’t this mysterious house into its iconic status.
In 1975, they stayed in the house for 28 days before finally running in fear for their lives. Right up until their recent deaths, George and Kathy Lutz never stepped down from their original claims of the supernatural mysteries that happened within the house. That brings us to Daniel Lutz, the star of the documentary My Amityville Horror. He was just ten years old at the time that his family went through the ordeal and now 35 years later he goes on record about his experiences for the first time ever.
There has been quite a bit of skepticism regarding these hauntings. Is it all just an elaborate hoax or did something truly evil happen within the walls of the old house in Amityville? That’s a question that we will probably never know the answer to, however, the words of Daniel Lutz and his experience of the home is truly fascinating and certainly something you won’t want to miss.
What do you guys think? Do you believe in this kind of stuff or is Lutz just trying to keep the spotlight shining on him? Watch the trailer below and let me know in the comments.
