Ben Wheatley’s follow up to the immensely satisfying Sightseers is A Field in England which looks completely batshit — and I mean that in the best way possible. Wheatley is an amazing filmmaker who’s not afraid to push himself into unknown territory and try new things. You never know what you’re going to get next with this guy and I for one can’t wait to check out this psychedelic trip into madness known as A Field in England. It will be the first UK film to be released simultaneously in cinemas, on free TV, DVD and VOD which is pretty damn cool.
While crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure they seek might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped in the field.
Michael Smiley (Kill List), Peter Ferdinando (Tony), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen), Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh), Richard Glover (Sightseers) and Ryan Pope (Ideal) star.
I can’t wait to see this, I’m a big fan of Wheatley and his films. This flick looks to be even more obscure and gory than his previous efforts…I’m so excited!
Same here man! Loved Kill List and I thought Sightseers was an absolute blast. I think this one is just going to be mind bending. Definitely can’t wait!
Wheatley’s contribution to The ABC’s of Death was one of the better, if not best, installments of that otherwise lackluster anthology.
That’s not at all surprising! I haven’t checked it out yet. The disappointing reviews have kept me away from it so far.
You would be better off trying to find the individual installments on youtube. Wheatley’s is U is for Unearthed.
Very interesting (and cool) approach to release the film on free TV at the same time as all other outlets.
Yea, I hope it’s a successful approach. Maybe they’ll debut more films like that in the future if it is.
The was the coolest trailer I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait for this film.
Yea it looks bat shit crazy! Wheatley is a really exciting directing, it’ll be interesting to see what he does with this one!
