Rigor Mortis is a Chinese vampire film marking the directorial debut of writer-director-producer Juno Mak. The first trailer has released and to put it simply it’s absolutely jaw-dropping. Easily one of the crazier trailers we’ve seen this year — something you should probably make a priority to watch! Read on folks, and check out the trailer below!
The modern day horror film’s story revolves around action star Chin Siu-Ho, playing himself as a down and out actor/vampire hunter who moves into a rundown public housing flat only to discover that his apartment is haunted and he is not alone. In order to survive he must do battle with the forces of evil.
Rigor Mortis stars action movie veteran Chin Siu-ho (Siu-ho) as a former vampire hunting actor who now finds himself reaching the end of the line as a washed-up star, separated from his wife and alienated from his son. Down on his luck and with barely a dollar to his name, he checks into Room 2442 in the housing estate, an allegedly haunted flat. His aim is to end his misery by doing himself in, but instead Siu-ho is interrupted by some of the other “occupants” of the building including a Taoist master-exorcist (Anthony Chan), a traumatized housewife with a tragic past (Kara Hui), as well as a seemingly benign elderly woman (Paw Hee-ching) who has an empty coffin conspicuously hanging in the middle of her apartment. Soon it becomes apparent to Siu-ho that the people around him and the situation are far from normal. Despite his lack of belief in superstition, Siu-ho is soon thrust into the battle of his life as vicious vampires with unsettled business begin to rise from the dead…”
The film is being produced by acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Shimizu along with Juno Mak and his Kudos Films.

Wow, looks incredible. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
No problem man! Looks pretty rad. They know how to make some awesome horror flicks over there. A tad over the top at times but they can be damn fun.
Completely agree. Can’t wait to check this one out.
OMG! Juno Mak went off to direct movies..WOW! I’m interested in seeing how it turns out… But he does have Chin Siu Ho and he’s pretty impressive 🙂 Chinese zombies concept is one thats very vivid in the past..I’m glad he picked this up to attempt to revive it!
Yea it looks absolutely gorgeous. Some very stunning work. Just based on this trailer alone I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future.
It does look pretty awesome!
Just a heads up that if you aren`t used to the Chinese Zombie concept its going to be a lot of getting used to and might look ridiculous…maybe try to start with the Mr. Vampire from the 80s. The main actor in this one does the one in 1987 (not sure of the year).
Yea I saw that they got the same actor, now that’s cool! I’ll have to track that one down for sure. It sounds pretty interesting lol.
I haven’t seen them all but I think the Mr. Vampire series has 5 movies before it stopped 🙂 It was mega popular back in the day from what I’ve heard..haha!
Excuse the zombie..should be vampire..haha!
o hell yeah
Thanks so much for sharing, Ry! This looks like great stuff! As an Asian, I’m ashamed this is my first time hearing of this film. -_-
Hahah no worries man! Some of these films find a way to go under the radar. It looks great tho!
