Now this is how you remake an iconic horror film. Clive Barker dropped a bomb on the horror world today as he took to Facebook to announce that he will pen the upcoming Hellraiser remake. That’s right, Clive Barker himself will be writing the screenplay to the remake of his very own 1987 directorial debut. The news gets even better though as Doug Bradley, the one and only Pinhead, will be back to reprise his role as the classic horror villain.
I doubt you’ll find much complaining from horror fans because we all knew a Hellraiser remake would grace the silver screen once again, but coming from the hands of both Barker and Bradley is guaranteed to shock and disturb audiences—exactly what the remake needs.
Today I have officially been invited to write the script…” Barker wrote. “What can I tell you about it? Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed.
Barker knows exactly what he’s doing and I have a feeling he’s going to run wild with this one. Rarely does a director get the chance to remake their own films, especially when they are as iconic as Hellraiser. It’s going to be interesting to see what he changes and how he approaches his very own work under a new light. The original is truly disturbing so I can’t wait to see how Barker plans on shocking audiences with this one. Horror fans are going to sleep good tonight!

SWEEEEEEEEEET!!! 😀
love this
Hell yea!
Omg this is great news! I met Doug Bradley in Massachusetts and he’s a very interesting character. Clive barker is a master of horror telling. I’ve read a lot of his books, have every movie he made. A cool one he made was night breed. Check that one out u won’t be disappointed.
I agree, this is some awesome news. Simply the fact that Bradley will be back is all I need to be sold on this one. It’s like if they would have brought Robert Englund back for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Should be solid and I’m excited to see what Barker does with it.
omgomgomgomg! Well, Barker DID write the book the first movie was based from…WHo better to do this? SO glad Doug Bradley is coming back too!
Exactly. It should be interesting and it’s nice to see the original talent involved in it.
I kinda wish it was a sequel rather than a remake though. But I trust Barker to be true to the original while still upping his game!!!
Yea a sequel would have made more sense, but at the same time a remake was going to get made with or without Barker and Bradley so at least this remake has them involved.
True!
Looks like Doug isn’t on board with this yet.
Per his FB page: “Hi everyone! Just arrived in Orlando for Spooky Empire, to be greeted by the news via FearNet and Clive Barkers Facebook that he is writing a new Hellraiser script and intends that I should play Pinhead again. This is intriguing news, about which I know absolutely nothing. No one has contacted or spoken to me about returning. So until you hear from me to the contrary, assume that all rumors about me returning as Pinhead are only rumors.
Peace & Pain.”
Yikes! Thanks for sending that my way. Let’s hope they can work something out. This remake NEEDS him.
