After recently picking up the vampire tale Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston, Sony Pictures Classics has released an international trailer for the flick which you can take a peek at below. Jim Jarmusch looks like he has crafted a very honest tale of the blood-sucking variety as Swinton and Hiddleston play a couple of vampires who have been in love for centuries. It’s an interesting trailer that offers all the things you would expect from the vampire genre as we get a peek at the life a vampire leads and their unending urge to drink human blood—you know, the good stuff!
If Swinton and Hiddleston as a couple of vampires aren’t enough to sell you on this one, then maybe the rest of the cast will as it sees Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt and Anton Yelchin join in on the night crawling fun
Only Lovers Left Alive takes place against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier and follows an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, who reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover. Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister.
Jarmusch and vampires? That’ll do nicely.
Haha. Yes, yes it will!
Leave it to Jarmusch to put (Arabic?) subtitles in his very first vampire film. Oh, and isn’t John Hurt looking more and more like Ian McKellen?
They both look pretty ancient, but maybe Ian McKellen is looking more like John Hurt? hahah
I read here people are tired of vampires, werewolves, zombies. Honestly Ryan I love vampire movies if they’re done right. My old favorites were Vincent price, Christopher Lee, peter Cushing from hammer productions. I will see this one. I hope they don’t stop making them, I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. What do u think?
I think the reason people are getting tired of them is because it’s rare that fans are treated to a solid film in that genre. I’m all for vampires, werewolves and zombies and I doubt we’ll ever see them disappear. As long as they stay true to what makes them iconic monsters then I’m usually pretty happy!
This has the potential to be pretty awesome. Holding out for something good in the vampire genre again!
Yeah, it definitely has the talent, now it just needs the story. Looks great so far tho.
So let us hope. 🙂
