And here we all that Elijah Wood’s main skill was the ability to scalp beautiful, unsuspecting women! In Eugenio Mira’s thriller Grand Piano, Wood must play the concert of his life because one wrong note will be the death of him. And when John Cusack tells you to do something, you do it! I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I am to see this flick. I’ve put off writing about the film here on the site because I was waiting for a trailer like this to come along so you would all understand how I could be excited about a movie that features a guy playing the shit out of a piano! Now that it’s here, it doesn’t disappoint—I’m definitely getting some Hitchcockian vibes from this one!
Elijah Wood has been tearing through the horror genre at a relentless pace with no signs of slowing down. His turn as the scalping serial killer Frank was brilliant in Maniac and he also has the badass sounding Cooties on the way (and many others on the horizon as well). Wood is a fun actor to watch and it will be cool to see him on the other side of the knife.
Tom Selznick, the most talented pianist of his generation, stopped performing in public because of his stage fright. Years after a catastrophic performance, he reappears in public in a long-awaited concert in Chicago. In a packed theater, in front of the expectant audience, Tom finds a message written on the score: “Play one wrong note and you die.” Without leaving the piano, Tom must discover the anonymous sniper’s motives and look for help without anyone realizing…
Also starring Alex Winter and Tamsin Egerton, Grand Piano will play in theaters on March 7th. Check out the trailer below!
Hadn’t heard of this but it looks pretty amazeballs!
I know! I’ve seen a few reviews—all positive! Should be fun, Wood has been great lately.
I’m in. When’s it out?
March 7th in theaters, but it will probably be a limited release so I would expect a VOD release shortly after or before.
True, since the majority of the time movie theaters hate showing anything that resembles a good horror film for too long.
No doubt, man. Thank god for VOD though, it’s where I see the majority of these films.
Exactly.
This looks AWESOME! Can’t wait. Elijah Wood is taking his career in a beautiful direction. 🙂
Yea, he really is. He’s pretty much been the go-to guy for low-budget horror lately. Nice to see. And this looks awesome!
