Caesar goes to war in the first trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!

One of the things I’ve been excited to see was the kind of tone and look Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was going to have under the direction of Let Me In‘s Matt Reeves. And just as I hoped it looks very dark and apocalyptic as the film picks up 10 years after the events of Rise. The start of the trailer gives us a speech by Gary Oldman, which is a win in itself, but then we finally get a brilliant shot of Caesar as he prepares to go to war. I’m so glad to see that Matt Reeves got his filthy paws on this one because it looks like he has brought his uniquely dark vision to the franchise.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species

Dawn stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Judy Greer, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Toby Kebbell, Enrique Murciano and Gary Oldman. Look for it in theaters on July 11, 2014!

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

  1. Another good trailer here. I was surprised at how good Rise was, and have high expectations for this one; hopefully they don’t drop the ball. Judging by this trailer, it looks promising. And glad to see Jason Clarke finally getting a starring role, as I had written an entry earlier in the year on him and wondered why he hadn’t been getting any leads.

    1. Rise was awesome and I think Reeves will do a solid job here. I love how dark the trailer is and how it only gives us just a taste of what’s to come. Good stuff! Clarke is starting to get looked at. He has this and supposedly he’ll be playing John Connor in Terminator: Genesis.

  2. I have rise and I know I’ll buy this one too. What I like about this one is the humans need to talk to ceasar! Seems very interesting
