Jonathan Glazer’s adaptation of Michael Faber’s Under the Skin has just been given a pretty wicked little red-band teaser trailer that is quite literally an eyeful. Under the Skin premiered back in September at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival where it was quickly met with high praise, which was actually a surprise to me because this is one of those flicks that could have easily crashed and burned. It turns out that Scarlett Johansson playing a deadly alien who preys on humans is a recipe for success! Who would have thought?
The teaser trailer is just that, a teaser. And while it will no doubt turn away the average moviegoer, it’s intriguing as hell and displays some wicked imagery, especially the last shot which will step right into my nightmares. See what you think of it below and be sure to leave your thoughts.
Isserley, an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey — her voracious sexuality. She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind.
Under the Skin will be getting a limited theatrical release on April 4th.
The trailer really doesn’t show anything that would interest me but I’ll keep reading your updates about it.
Yea, the teaser doesn’t offer a whole lot! Maybe a full trailer will change your mind once it comes rolling along.
Reminds me very much of the shining trailer, simplistic and not really revealing! Powerful and affective nevertheless, I shall be keeping an eye on this now!
That’s a hell of a comparison! You’re right though, the teaser does exactly what it should do and intrigues the audience. Glad you liked it!
I know, aha but its that weird “trippy” somewhat hypnotising experience.
Yes, exactly. The very last shot in this teaser is all sorts of weird/awesome!
Weeeeeird!!!
Lol, yes. Very!
Looks and sounds kind of like what species would have been had it had a plot.
Yea, no doubt!
