The trailer for Ivan Kavanagh’s psychological horror film will rattle your nerves.
It’s hard to place a finger on Kavanagh’s The Canal with just this trailer because it doesn’t offer much as far as the story goes. What it does do, however, is quickly peel back the layers of the film by only showing us its striking imagery that look like something pulled straight out of a nightmare. Without much dialog and an unsettling score pushing the trailer along, The Canal looks absolutely stunning as it teases a wicked trip into madness.
After being hit with nothing but high praise out of its premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, The Canal was quickly swept up for distribution by The Orchard and Shock Till You Drop. I couldn’t track down a release date but expect to see this one get the VOD treatment as well as a limited theatrical run.
The Canal tells the story of David Williams and his wife, Alice, who move into a beautiful period house by the canal with their small child, Billy. As David begins to suspect that his wife is cheating on him, he also starts to have nightmarish visions of an evil presence he believes inhabits his home.
It stars Rupert Evans and Antonia Campbell-Hughes, with Hannah Hoekstra, Kelly Byrne and Steve Oram.
This is a good looking theme, man!
Thanks, man! Glad you like it!
Oh. My. Goodness. I have goosebumps! Looks absolutely chilling!
I know, right! Loved this trailer. Super creepy without telling us a whole lot.
Wow. The lighting is incredible! The trailer started off looking generic but got more and more original as it progressed.
Yeah, the trailer starts off so simple and kind of boring but that all quickly changes once it starts moving. Pretty freaky looking!
