Terrifying new trailer for The Babadook brings a monster to life

Leave your lights on, folks!

Back in January we saw the very first trailer for Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook, which seemingly came out of nowhere and scared the crap out of everyone just before its screening at the Sundance Film Festival. Now, that little monster that lives inside a child’s storybook is back to haunt us once again as the film prepares for its UK premiere at Film4 FrightFest on August 23rd.

Whoever is cutting these trailers are cinematic mad men because although they show you nothing, it still manages to get under your skin by the use of sounds that are creepy enough to drift into your nightmares. Couple that with some chilling imagery and a few quick edits and you have horror trailer gold. The trailer is below… good luck.

Look for The Babadook on November 28th.

Six years after the death of her husband, Amelia struggles to discipline her out of control 6-year-old Samuel – a son she finds difficult to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill tem both. When a disturbing storybook called “The Babadook” turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babdook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. And when Amelia begins to see glimpses of the creature herself, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may well be real.

The Babadook stars Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West and Ben Winspear.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

  1. This looks good! Ryan you do not know how much you help me when it comes to Horror films. I do not want to waste my money on a horrible movie, I’ve seen a lot of good movies based on your opinion. THANK YOU!

  2. Dude, this film is so frickin great. I reviewed it on my site when it had a cinema run out here and it is still probably in my top 5 of the year so far. Can’t wait to see what you think of it.

      1. Yeah it is. Tis quite old fashioned in some ways. Big old haunted house. But ties some really interesting themes in with it. I thought it was pretty darn frightening too.
