It was just a few days ago when we learned that Sam Strike was set to star in Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface, leading us to assume that he would grow up to be the iconic killer. It turns out that might not actually be the case. With the announcement of a new cast member, James Bloor, came some new details about what the Inside directors might have planned, details that change the entire make-up of the film.
What was recently reported by The Wrap is that Leatherface will be a mystery about three teenage psychopaths, one of which grows up to be Leatherface. This actually makes sense, too, because when reports first surfaced of a Leatherface prequel, the word was that it would hinge on three young patients that escape from an insane asylum. Sam Strike and James Bloor will play two of the three escapees, so who is the third and which one is Leatherface?
As far as Bloor’s character, he will play Ike, a budding young maniac who, like Strike’s character, also grows up to potentially wield the iconic chainsaw. If the film is indeed going to use this mystery as its main driving force, then this one just got a hell of a lot more interesting and adds an entirely new element to the franchise we’ve never seen before.
Additionally, we also learned that horror vet Angela Bettis (below) will take on the role of Verna, Leatherface’s mother. How will she factor into the film if we’re meant to be in the dark on which of the three boys is Leatherface? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t know what to make of the news of the prequel, because the original Massacre movie was such a classic of the horror genre. I don’t think anything could have the same impact as it.
Yeah, probably not. There’s always a chance that it could be great, though, and these guys really know what they’re doing, so there’s that!
Lets hope that it delivers then.
