Arnold Schwarzenegger and zombies isn’t exactly a hard sell, the man has tackled every genre there is, but Maggie looks like something on a completely different level for the prolific actor, who joins the always great Abigail Breslin in the undead drama. Maggie has had an interesting journey so far, one that started with Lionsgate’s acquisition back in August, ultimately leading to them pulling the film just ahead of its Toronto International Film Festival debut.
With its newly announced May 8th VOD and theatrical release in hand, Maggie now has its first trailer and it’s one that I think is going to surprise some of you. It’s certainly easy to associate Schwarzenegger’s name with that of the action genre, so when he turns in a dramatic performance (which he’s often pretty good at) in a film like Maggie, it will no doubt turn some heads. Directed by Henry Hobson, the film’s trailer has a backwoods country vibe to it, set to the dramatic tune of a zombie apocalypse in which a father sets out to find a cure for his infected daughter, who is slowly turning into an undead corpse right in front of him. It’s a fantastic, slow-burning trailer that starts piecing together a story that will no doubt tug at the heart strings.
Maggie follows a deadly zombie virus that has put a plague on the world. When Maggie, a vivacious young woman becomes infected, her father brings her home to let her be with their family. As Maggie’s condition worsens, their relationship is tested, a father’s love holding on stronger than the disease. This heart-wrenching twist on the zombie apocalypse puts a human face on an inexplicable horror.
Maggie also stars Joely Richardson, Laura Cayouette and J.D. Evermore.

Looks good! I just watched Sabotage the other day…. it wasn’t too bad….
It looks awesome! I’ve been slacking on some of his newer stuff but that one did look pretty decent.
I mean – it’s Big Schwarzie! What can you expect??
Haha yeah, exactly! I’m pretty excited to see him in the new Terminator movie, that should be fun.
I am too – I still like the guy!
I’ve always liked Schwarzenegger; I just haven’t liked every movie he’s been in. Maggie, on the other hand, looks like a winner. I also love the fact that Abigail Breslin doesn’t shy away from doing horror as some of her contemporaries are wont to do.
I totally agree man, it’ll be nice to see what these two have in store with this one. It’s a great take on the old zombie genre, that’s for sure.
I’ve been waiting ages for this trailer to come out! Looks great … I still like Schwarzenegger … and Abigail Breslin is a bonus too! I’m sold!
I’m glad it was worth the wait, it looks so good! Breslin looks great here, too, and I’m glad she was the one to step in for Chloe Moretz after she dropped out of it.
I just hope the film gets a proper release here in Australia!
Well,i didn’t see this coming!!
Arnie and Horror…a weird blend in my opinion..i hope the blend will result to a descent movie..!
For sure! Nice to see Arnold jumping into so many different genres, this one looks like it could be great.
Not sure if I’m a big fan of Arnold – as an actor or as a politician – but it’s great to see him in movies again. (The universe felt a bit out of whack while he was in politics, in my opinion.) This film looks intriguing.
You can tell he’s trying to make up for lost times, too. The dude has multiple movies out every year now it seems!
Ha ha! Very true. And why not! He is a true action star in every sense of the word.
Exactly, he can be a lot of fun to watch. Now he’s tackling the zombie genre, should be interesting to say the least!
This looks very interesting. Arnold and zombies. Never woulda thunk it! 😉
Right!? He’s done pretty much everything at this point haha.
Just saw the trailer for this earlier tonight, and I gotta say, it looks surprisingly good. I’m not a fan of Arnie’s action films (or most action films in general, to be honest), but I have liked a few of his horror turns, notably End of Days, which was a fun watch. I’m also not a huge fan of zombie films, but this looks like it’s more character driven, so I’ll very likely give it a try.
Yeah it’s definitely not what you would expect when you hear Arnold + Zombies. It’s a unique approach to the genre and, surprisingly, not a lot of films focus on the whole turning into a zombie aspect of it.
Yup, finally something fresh… relatively speaking :-p
Arnie in a serious zombie film, wtf…
And it actually looks fantastic. Cross my fingers and hope it is.
