Boy Scout slasher Cub gets a fantastic new trailer

Jonas Govaerts’ pint-sized slasher Cub has finished up its festival run and now it’s eyeing a release here in the States, which brings us to this new, absolutely fantastic U.S. trailer. With its unique spin on the slasher genre, Cub pits a group of boy scouts against a masked, blood-thirsty child in a hellish fight for survival.

It’s the kind of premise that makes you wonder how we haven’t seen it before, but that’s exactly what Govaerts’ directorial debut is. While the film is still a ways away from its August 18th release, the trailer below should be enough to hold you over; it’s a good one.

Troubled twelve-year-old Sam heads off on a summer camping trip with his Cub Scout troupe. When the highly imaginative boy claims to have seen a creature in the woods, his counsellors naturally assume that their campfire tales of a monster named Kai have gotten to him. But the danger Sam sees is all too real: watching from the darkness is a masked, feral child whose menacing snarl and quick movements go unnoticed by all except for Sam. As the mocking taunts of the other boys isolate Sam further from his pack, he becomes increasingly convinced that a terrible fate awaits them all.

The film stars Maurice Luijten, Titus De Voogdt, Stef Aerts, Evelien Bosmans and Jan Hammenecker.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.
