Horror anthology Tales of Halloween gets an awesome first trailer

The horror anthology has made a huge comeback in recent years with films like Trick ‘R Treat, V/H/S and The ABC’s of Death proving that the short horror format still has plenty of life left with some unforgettable stories still to tell. And this Halloween, we’ll have another anthology film to add to this list, this time with ten shorts that take place in the same small American town whose denizens are terrorized by ghouls, aliens, and killers one Halloween night.

The film is stacked head to toe in talent, from directors like Neil Marshall and Lucky McKee to actors such as Lin Shaye and Starry Eyes‘ breakout lead Alex Essoe, Tales of Halloween promises to be one hell of a film that takes place on one hell of a night… Halloween! The film will hit theaters on October 16th, now dig on the trailer below!

It stars Lin Shaye, Greg Grunberg, Pat Healy (The Innkeepers, Cheap Thrills), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga), Keir Gilchrist (It Follows), Noah Segan (Looper), Pollyannna McIntosh (The Woman), James Duval (Donnie Darko), Kristina Klebe (Halloween), Marc Senter (The Devil’s Carnival), Jose Pablo Cantillo (The Walking Dead), Grace Phipps (Dark Summer), Sam Witwer (Being Human), and Graham Skipper (Almost Human). It also features Insidious‘ Lin Shaye and Greg Grunberg, while the likes of Joe Dante, John Landis, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon, Adrienne Barbeau, and Adam Green cameo.

At the helm is Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III and IV), Axelle Carolyn (Soulmate), Adam Gierasch (Night of the Demons), Andrew Kasch (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), Neil Marshall (The Descent), Lucky McKee (All Cheerleaders Die, The Woman), Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!), Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red), Ryan Schifrin (Abominable), John Skipp (Stay at Home Dad), and Paul Solet (Grace).

  1. This!! I felt like a lone wolf appreciating the V/H/S films…even the third one had its moments. This is definitely right up my alley!

  2. Okay, I’m the odd one out, lol. It’s not that this looks bad per se, just god, I’m so tired of the anthology format. I really liked it at first – Trick’r’Treat is one of my favorite things ever and I watch it every Halloween – but just enough already. It’s like every other trend that comes along, it just gets beaten to death, you know? And, end rant! 😉 On a side note – did I see JGL at the beginning? I swear I did!

    1. No, that’s understandable and exactly how I feel about the found-footage genre. That shit is just annoyingly terrible, yet they continue to make them because of the easy profit despite the fact that it’s lazy, untalented filmmaking. And as far as I know that’s not JGL, but how cool would that be!?
