Trick ‘R Treat director’s new holiday horror Krampus gets a trailer!

There’s one place that the genre doesn’t explore nearly enough and that is Christmas. Sure, there are plenty of classic holiday horror films—Black Christmas, Silent Night Deadly Night, and Gremlins come to mind—but it’s still a largely untapped area for the genre (at least as far as good horror goes). That’s why Michael Dougherty’s Krampus is such a special occasion because not only is this his first film since 2007’s Halloween classic Trick ‘R Treat, but his latest is going straight for the throat of the Christmas season. Better hope you’re not on the naughty list!

The film’s first trailer is here and it looks absolutely wonderful, brimming with Christmas spirit as a snow-swept setting turns into a night of pure holiday horror. Watch the trailer below and start counting down the days until December 4th!

When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

It stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

  1. You and I have both got trailers featuring the Krampus this week, Ryan. I’ll be featuring A Christmas Horror Story on Friday Night at the Trailer Park this week. Is this Dougherty’s first since Trick ‘r’ Treat? It looks good, for sure.

    1. Nice, looks like Krampus is going to make some noise during christmas this year! Yeah, it’s his first film since that one, which is as surprising as it is exciting.

  2. This movie looks like it has the perfect set-up, with the perfect holiday decor and sweater-clad family members. I bet this film will be really popular at Christmas because the holiday season is pretty much left alone when it comes to horror, right?
