Darkness on the Edge of Town marks the feature film debut of director Patrick Ryan, who turns his talents towards the revenge genre, exploring friendship, murder and rage. While the film is currently available to watch on VOD, the trailer has just now been brought to my attention and it’s an alluring couple of minutes that buries a brooding atmosphere under silence and stunning visuals. And although there’s virtually no dialog or exposition, the trailer instead allows its imagery to do all the talking, unveiling a story that goes from mystery to revenge in the blink of an eye.
Darkness on the Edge of Town is out now on iTunes and VOD, so if you like what you see below, be sure to check it out!
In Ireland’s bleak rural South, troubled teenage sharpshooter Cleo Callahan strives to avenge the death of her estranged sister after she is found brutally stabbed in a public bathroom. Blinded by rage and shame, Cleo is unaware that her best and only friend, Robin O’Riley, is the murderer she’s sworn to kill.
It stars Emma Eliza Regan, Emma Willis and Brian Gleeson.
I’m at work right now so I can’t watch the trailer (YouTube is blocked) but the synopsis of this sounds intriguing. Also, any movie named after a classic Springsteen album gets points in my book.
Haha yeah, totally agree!
Don’t you just hate it when the murderous object of your revenge turns out to be your best/sole friend?!
Yes, that can really put some tension on the relationship! Hate when that happens 🙂
