After a solid festival run, Éric Hannezo’s remake of the Mario Bava classic Rabid Dogs is about to make its theatrical and VOD debut in just over a week, which means we get a new trailer and poster to stare at—both happen to be pretty fantastic, too. It’s a rare thing for a remake to go by unnoticed, especially one like Bava’s 1970s thriller, but Hannezo’s remake has been generating some solid buzz since it hit the festival circuit last year, so it’s certainly one to keep an eye on. The trailer hits all the right notes, offering up a quick, sharp-edged look at Hannezo’s remake and the poster is an absolute stunner. Check those out below.
Based on Italian giallo maestro Mario Bava’s twisted ‘70s shocker, Rabid Dogs at once pays homage to the dark heart of the original, while updating it with a sleekly modern stylishness. It hits Theaters and VOD on January 22nd.
After their armed bank robbery goes haywire, three criminals take their hostages—a young woman, a father, and his sick daughter—on a berserk, blood-spattered road trip. Determined to reach the border, the gang embarks on a long night’s journey into surreal ultra-violence, as both their desperation and the body count mounts.
Rabid Dogs stars Virginie Ledoyen, Lambert Wilson and François Arnaud.
