We’ll no doubt see our fair share of anthologies this year—seeing that they’ve been on the rise lately—but there’s one that made quite a bit of noise last year during its festival run and that film is the open road thriller Southbound. To say there’s a lot of buzz surrounding this one would be an understatement, and you’ll quickly see why after watching its fantastic first trailer. What stood out to me the most about this trailer—even more than its unmistakably eerie atmosphere and striking visuals—was that every segment looks amazing, each teasing their own wicked brand of horror.
Southbound was directed by Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner, Patrick Horvath and Radio Silence. It hits limit theaters on February 5th before rolling out to VOD on February 9th.
On a desolate stretch of desert highway, weary travelers—two men on therun from their past, a band on their way to the next gig, a man struggling to get home, a brother in search of his long-lost sister and a family on vacation—are forced to confront their worst fears and darkest secrets in these interwoven tales of terror and remorse on the open road.
It stars Kate Beahan, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Susan Burke, Zoe Cooper, Gerald Downey, and more.
Saw this one at Fantastic Fest and enjoyed it.
