If you’re looking for a hefty dose of what-the-fuck then you’re in the right place because Danny Perez’s Antibirth just released its first trailer and it’s this bizarro-weird trip that hinges on madness. It recently played at Fantasia and the reviews have mostly leaned on the good side, prefacing that Antibirth is definitely as strange as it looks—I’m sure that’s part of the film’s charm, though (if you’re into some weird shit, that is). All that said, it’s nice to see a film break the mold a little bit and really go off the rails, especially when it comes to pregnancy in horror because we’ve seen just about everything there is in that department. Watch the trailer below and enjoy the weirdness!
Antibirth opens in theaters and on VOD this September 2nd.
Hard-drinking, pill-popping, bong-ripping Lou (Natasha Lyonne) and her best friend Sadie (Chloë Sevigny) spend their days adrift in a druggy haze. But one wild night out becomes a bad trip that never ends when Lou wakes up with symptoms of an unexplained, highly abnormal pregnancy. Who—or what—is growing inside her? As her due date approaches with alarming swiftness, the fear, paranoia, and conspiracy theories begin to pile up.
It stars Natasha Lyonne, Chloë Sevigny, Meg Tilly, Emmanuel Kabongo, and Mark Webber.
Maybe I lead a sheltered life, but I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen the “F” word on a movie poster…?
Off topic, but I LOVE the new format of your website. It looks great!
Thanks! You’re actually the first one to say anything about the new setup. Glad you like it!
Oh man, this looks balls to the wall crazy and pretty disgusting.
Haha, yeah it really does. It looks like one that might be just a little too weird, but we’ll see. I plan on reviewing it!
Oh, I absolutely can’t wait to see what your two cents will be!
Man strange is my middle name, this looks like it’ll be awesome! I am marking September 2nd in my diary 😀
