Richard Bates Jr.—the twisted mind behind Excision and last year’s Suburban Gothic—is one of the most distinguished indie filmmakers out there, a man with a vision that disturbs and humors in equal measure. And his latest, Trash Fire (what a title), promises more of that same uniquely twisted style that made him one of the most exciting up-and-coming directors in the first place. The trailer for RBJ’s wonderfully disturbing tale is a thing of stirring beauty, and one that perfectly embodies the experience of watching one of his films—there’s a little bit of shock, a lot of humor, and a whole bunch of what the fuck going on here; in other words: this trailer rules.
Trash Fire will hit theaters on November 3rd.
When Owen is forced to confront the past he’s been running from his whole adult life, he and his girlfriend, Isabel, become entangled in a horrifying web of lies, deceit, and murder. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll be scarred for life.
It stars Adrian Grenier, Angela Trimbur, Fionnula Flanagan, AnnaLynne McCord and Matthew Gray Gubler.
Let’s see what the star of Entourage can do. I’m stoked to see this!
Yeah I’m interested to see what he does here. RBJ always gets great performances out of his cast, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.
