Liam Gavin’s occult festival hit A Dark Song has finally released a trailer, and it comes on the heels of Kaleidoscope Film Distribution recently snatching it up for worldwide rights. I’ve been hearing some good things throughout its festival run—it previously screened at Fantastic Fest, Sitges, and BFI London Film Festival—so I’m certainly intrigued and its newly released trailer is just too good to ignore. There isn’t an ounce of dialog, instead its use of visuals and score drive the narrative of a ritual gone wrong.
There has yet to be a release date announced, so we’ll just have to wait (some more) I suppose.
The film follows a young mother who is determined to avenge the murder of her child with the help of a hard-drinking occultist. Locking themselves into an isolated house, they perform a magic ritual to enlist the help of the supernatural world, but secrets from their pasts unleash darker powers.
It stars Sightseers’ Steve Oram and Catherine Walker, and was produced by David Collins, Tim Dennison and Cormac Fox.
This was one of my favorites from FF this year.
Glad to hear that! Really looking forward to it.
Another one to keep an eye out for is PREVENGE, the latest from Alice Lowe, Oram’s costar/cowriter from SIGHTSEERS.
Haven’t heard of that one, so I’ll certainly be on the lookout for it. Thanks for the heads up!
