Ben Young’s Hounds of Love just dropped a trailer ahead of its SXSW premiere and it’s a moody and altogether disturbing piece of work—if this trailer is any indicator of the final product, we’re in for one nasty treat. And although this one will no doubt be a tough pill to swallow, it’s a wonderfully twisted trailer that opens with a disturbed couple abducting a young girl. While it shows its fair share of shocking imagery—the last shot is absolutely haunting—it too hints at the film’s psychological angle in which the girl must drive a wedge between the couple if she wants to survive.
Hounds of Love will have its North American Premiere at SXSW on Saturday, March 11, and opens in theaters on May 12, 2017.
In suburban Perth during the mid 1980s, people are unaware that women are disappearing at the hands of serial killer couple John and Evelyn White. After an innocent lapse in judgment, Vicki Maloney is randomly abducted by the disturbed couple. With her murder imminent, Vicki realizes she must find a way to drive a wedge between Evelyn and John if she is to survive.
It stars Ashleigh Cummings, Emma Booth, Stephen Curry, Susie Porter, Damian de Montemas, Harrison Gilbertson, and Fletcher Humphrys.
Interesting looking film. Maybe we can call it a reverse psychological thriller?
Yes, I like that! I do like the idea of her trying to turn them on one another… should be interesting.
