Jacob Chase’s short film Larry is the kind of short that I enjoy most—it sits right in that 5-minute sweet spot and never feels rushed or overlong. Good filmmakers can do a lot with just a few minutes, which is exactly what Chase does here. While the story is simple and it only has one character, Larry is full of life (and horror). I love the entire concept: this dude runs into a storybook monster in the middle of the night, and it’s this wonderfully quirky mix of charm and terror that Chase pulls off perfectly—the effects go a long way here, too, as they deliver some really fun scares. You can’t miss it
Larry lives behind a window. He can see through the glass. Who will be Larry’s friend?
