Horror has never been more alive than it is right now and a lot of that stems from the understated indie gems that come out each and every month. They’re cheap, they’re thrilling, and they’re often some of the best films the genre has to offer. Cheap Thrills aims at highlighting the upcoming indie horror films (and some other interesting movies that come our way) that should be on your radar.
Mitzi Peirone makes her feature film debut with the hypnotic psycho-thriller Braid, a film that has somehow been flying under the radar all this time despite some early high praise and a release coming next month. You won’t need words to sell you on Braid since the trailer does it better than I ever could—it’s an alluring and perfectly bizarre mind-bender of a trailer that needs to be injected into your eyeballs right now. So enough from me. Watch and devour.
Two wanted women decide to rob their wealthy psychotic friend who lives in the fantasy world they created as children; to take the money they have to take part in a deadly perverse game of make believe.
Look for Braid in limited theaters as well as on VOD on February 1st.
Wow – this does look bizarre. Is it comparable to any other film? It looks truly original.
Not that I can think of. It definitely stands out, that’s for sure!
