Horror has never been more alive than it is right now and a lot of that stems from the understated indie gems that come out each and every month. They’re cheap, they’re thrilling, and they’re often some of the best films the genre has to offer. Cheap Thrills aims at highlighting the upcoming indie horror films (and some other interesting movies that come our way) that should be on your radar.
Stephen Cedars’ throwback creature feature might be 2019’s most appropriately titled horror film—it’s a movie about a teen who violently gives birth to an alien and it’s called… Snatchers. Alright, moving on. So the trailer absolutely crushes, and it looks very much inspired by some of our favorite 80s horror movies. It looks practical, gooey, gloriously cheesy, and fun as hell. Okay, that’s enough from me. I’ll let the trailer do all the snatching.
Snatchers is centered on a status-obsessed teen who, after having sex for the first time, finds herself pregnant…with an alien.
While there’s no official release just yet, Snatchers will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this March.
This looks hysterically funny.
It looks awesome! I’m with you!
Ha! This looks great. I don’t recognize any of the cast, but they look terrific.
For sure! It’s definitely full of some new, up-and-coming talent.
