The Creature From the Black Lagoon remains as one of horror’s most classic monsters and to this day still holds up as one of the coolest monster suites in cinematic history. Very rarely do we get to take an all new look at classic monster like the Gill-Man, and thanks to Kerry Gammill we get to see a set of unused photos that were taken for Life Magazine from the 1953 set of the film. The photos never made it into the issue but Kerry Gammill of Gammillustrations recently color corrected the copies of the images and they are absolutely gorgeous.
A scientific expedition searching for fossils along the Amazon River discover a prehistoric Gill-Man in the legendary Black Lagoon. The explorers capture the mysterious creature, but it breaks free. The Gill-Man returns to kidnap the lovely Kay, fiancée of one of the expedition, with whom it has fallen in love.
Take a look at the gallery below!
That’s ridiculously cool.
Glad you like! It’s always fun seeing a classic like this come to life like that. Too awesome!
Also a nice reminder of the hotties of yester-year.
Those are pretty cool, no doubt. That first one though is funny, with him splashing around. He looks like he’s a toddler in the tub, splashing. LOL
Lol yea true! I like to think that’s just what he does on his spare time!
Heh. Splashy time! 😀
I’d love to get one of those blown up and in a poster format. Great for the home theater.
Yes! Now that’s a good idea.
I missed this post, though I’ve seen these photos before. The one on the bottom is the basis for a model kit that came out recently 🙂
Oh, damn! That’s awesome.
Beautiful! I wish I had seen these back in grade school when I was trying to accurately paint my aurora kit .
