Meet The New ‘Hannibal’ Lecter

You may not be familiar with the name Mads Mikkelsen just yet, but I promise very soon it’ll be a name you come to recognize. He’s a wonderfully underrated actor who just came off wining the Best Actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his film The Hunt and has just recently nabbed the villain role in the upcoming Thor 2. Mikkelsen has just been attached as the star of NBC’s upcoming drama Hannibal.

This will mark his U.S. TV debut and will be starring opposite Hugh Dancy in the 13 episode drama.

The project is described as a contemporary thriller featuring the classic characters from Thomas Harris’ novel Red Dragon – FBI agent Will Graham (Dancy) and his mentor Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mikkelsen) — who are re-introduced at the beginning of their budding relationship. Graham a gifted criminal profiler on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI who enlists the help of Dr. Lecter, one of the premier psychiatric minds in the country, with no clue about his darker side.

What do you guys think? Will Mikkelsen be able to live up to the role that was made famous by Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs? Only time will tell and hopefully being on a network like NBC will not handicap the capabilities a show like this has.

  1. I wish him the best; but I get the feeling it’s going to be like a four year old running around in his daddy’s boots.

  2. Yea, I kind of wish this series was going to be on a network like HBO because an actor as good as him can’t have limits like he’ll have with NBC. I’m hoping for the best tho!

  3. i am really hoping this is a good series.. getting worried with all the new horror movie based series.. this being the second hanniverse one coming out.

    1. Yes exactly, there’s definitely a lot of worry going around for horror fans. Especially because this is such an iconic character. I’d love to see this on a better network but I’m hoping for the best!

  4. I did a post on this today! And i,m really excited to see this TV series and hopefully should be a good one!

    1. Awesome! I think a lot of horror fans are excited to see what NBC comes up. I’m hoping for the best, I don’t want to see this tank because it has so much potential.

      1. I know yeh I hope it turns out really good, i have high hopes for this to and don’t want em to give the movie a bad name in any way with a rip off TV series.
