Sinister trailer for The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Would you look at that. A24 is at it again with yet another genre piece, this time from the dude who made the weird as shit yet wholly entertaining The Lobster. And The Lobster himself, Colin Farrell, returns alongside director Yorgos Lanthimos for The Killing of a Sacred Deer, which has been cleaning up the festival circuit. While I’m not entirely sure how much this one leans into the horror genre, the trailer is plenty disturbing, giving away only skin-crawling visuals and an unquestionable sense of dread. I’m for it.

A24 will release the The Killing of a Sacred Deer into theaters on November 3rd.

Steven, an eminent cardiothoracic surgeon is married to Anna, a respected ophthalmologist. They are well off and live a happy and healthy family life with their two children, Kim, 14 and Bob, 12. Steven has formed a friendship with Martin, a fatherless 16-year-old boy whom he has taken under his wing. Things take a sinister turn when Steven introduces Martin to his family, gradually throwing their world into turmoil and forcing Steven to make a shocking sacrifice or run the risk of losing everything.

It stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Barry Keoghan, Raffey Cassidy, Sunny Suljic, Bill Camp, and Alicia Silverstone.

  1. Count me in, Yorgos has, with one film, introduced me to an entirely fresh, exciting and new cinematic voice. Plus that poster. Wow. That’s so striking

      1. Dogtooth (Kynodontas) was brilliant too! I would even call myself a fan of Greek’s director work. Lobster is one of the best movies of last years.

I must have completely missed this post. Awesome poster.

      2. I’ve been hearing some very interesting things about this one, too, so I’m really excited to check it out. Especially with how gloriously weird The Lobster was.

      3. Yes, you definitely should! It’s made on a much smaller scale, but the feeling is the same.

I watched the film when it was out and never forgot it. But I didn’t remember who did it back then. Then last year I watched The Lobster, again without checking who was the director… then I opened Wiki… then I banged my head against the wall haha

  3. Well, he has been doing film for much longer time already compared to Lanthimos. But The Lobster was just incredible. I am hyped, but I always keep my head down so I won’t get too disappointed 🙂 and you?
