The tech world collides with the supernatural in Julian Terry’s short Whisper, an effortless two minute exercise in nightmare fuel. While it’s only two minutes long, Terry uses every bit of its runtime to create a tense and wonderfully creepy short that oozes with atmosphere and horror. It’s a hell of an achievement to make something that’s actually scary, and Terry not only does it here, but it manages to crawl right under your skin and stay there. You might know what’s coming, but you’re never really prepared for it.
The set-up is rather simple and I absolutely love how Terry has found a clever way to modernize a classic scare with the addition of Amazon’s Echo. If you dig this one (spoiler: you will) and you want to see more shorts like Whisper, be sure to check out the Short Round!
Dude, that actually made me jump, lol. Totally awesome. 😁
Lol, that’s why I shared it. Freaked me out, too! Thought everyone might appreciate it as well.
Loved this! Two minutes, and it’s better than most full length horror movies these days, especially haunted house movies which go on forever (with the exception of House on Haunted Hill and Poltergeist (original!)..
So glad you enjoyed it. I thought the exact same thing—this short nails so much atmosphere in such a short amount of time.
Ha! Great twist on the monster-in-the-closet scenario. Like you said, you know what’s coming, except you don’t. It’s amazing to see how all of this was accomplished in two minutes.(!)
Awesome, so glad you enjoyed it! Definitely a solid scare in just 2 minutes. Impressive stuff!
