Three years later and I’m still in complete awe of Darren Aronofsky’s Mother!, a film that set the genre on fire and was legitimately shocking in many ways — how did he get a studio to back this movie? The insanity. I had a hard time back in 2017 formulating any kind of writing that would justify this weird masterpiece — which is why I never wrote a review for it — and I still don’t, so it’s a good thing that artists like James Fenwick exist because I can talk about this wonderful piece all day.

It’s fitting that Fenwick’s art is just as intricate and complex as the film itself — I mean… just look at this thing. The snake and swan are coiled into one flowing image with one side of the art representing death and decay while the other appears to flourish. It’s just an altogether killer print.
