It’s already shaping up to be another fantastic year for the genre, and one such film that will no doubt leave a mark on 2016 is Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room, which is said to be a brilliantly crafted and wickedly fun horror-thriller about a diabolical club owner who squares off against an unsuspecting but resilient young punk band. That’s just awesome. What makes the film particularly exciting—other than the fact that Patrick Stewart is the leader of a gang of vicious skinheads—is that its Saulnier’s follow-up to his fantastic thriller Blue Ruin, which marked his return behind the camera after 7 long years. This dude should never stop making movies. Ever.
Today we (finally!) have the first teaser trailer for Green Room and it’s a gnarly piece of work, teasing an evil Patrick Stewart and a few punk rockers who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. It hits theaters on April 15th. Also, look at this poster. Seriously. Look. At. This. Poster.
A young punk rock band find themselves trapped in a secluded venue after stumbling upon a horrific act of violence.
It stars Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, Mark Webber, Eric Edelstein, Macon Blair, and Kai Lennox.
“What makes the film particularly exciting—other than the fact that Patrick Stewart is the leader of a gang of vicious skinheads” – I’m sorry, what?!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!
Awesome write up Ryan, thanks for drawing my attention to yet another interesteing film 🙂
No problem! I’m telling you now, this is going to be one that you won’t want to miss.
I’m hearing you Ryan 🙂
I re-read that sentence about Patrick Stewart three times before I commented haha.
Haha, that’s awesome!
I still can’t believe it! Haha.
This looks really interesting! Can’t wait to check it out.
Same here. The cast is great and I’m excited to see that Saulnier didn’t wait another 7 years to make his next movie. Should be a good one!
YES.
I am excited for you (and the genre/horror-loving world) to see both this and THE WITCH, my two favorite films from Fantastic Fest 2015.
Dude, how does it feel to have already seen two of what will probably some of the best movies of the year before everyone else? I’m jealous, so very jealous.
Remember how people were seeing assholes post major Star Wars spoilers all over the web the week of its release? Like, the opposite of that, I guess.
No, I’m grateful to have been able to see their premieres, for sure, and I’m genuinely geeked to see them both again with the plebeians.
Oh for sure. You going to make another trip to SXSW this year? Hearing the line-up is going to be ridiculous.
I am not. It’s not for lack of wanting to, but we’re finally filming our feature in March. If all goes to plan, we’ll be at one of the said fests next year for our own world premiere. Here’s hoping anyway…
Oh shit, that’s exciting! Keep me in the loop!
This was my favorite film out of last year’s Fantastic Fest and I’m very excited that others will have a chance to see it soon!
Patrick Stewart is amazing in everything, and I bet he’s ultra amazing here. I had to laugh at the previous commenter who did a triple take at Stewart as the leader of a skinhead gang.
The poster is very clever.
He really is a great actor and I can’t wait to see him take on a role like this, something no one would have ever expected!
Oh damn. You’ve got my attention. Evil Patrick Stewart? Jeremy Saulnier? Anton Yelchin? Macon Blair? Wow. This should be good
That’s a recipe for something insane, and according to literally everyone who has already seen the movie, it’s every bit as good as it sounds.
