The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy becomes Morgan in creepy first trailer

Luke Scott will make his feature film debut with the sci-fi horror hybrid Morgan, which is putting off some serious Ex Machina vibes (let’s all reflect on how fucking awesome Ex Machina is real quick). And while the cast is wall-to-wall great, what’s notable (for genre fans, anyway) is that the title character is played by none other than Anya Taylor-Joy, who broke out in this year’s hit horror movie The Witchonly now it looks like she’s the one doing the tormenting.

What’s particularly great about this trailer is that it gives absolutely nothing away, using every shot to create a slow-burning tension that crawls towards a very cool, and ridiculously chilling final shot. And while the movie itself is being pegged as a thriller, this trailer is straight-up horror. It’s actually surprising that more people aren’t talking about Morgan—especially with Ridley Scott producing his son’s debut film—because this one looks damn good and it’s surrounded by some serious talent.

Look for Morgan to come to life on September 2nd.

A corporate troubleshooter is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human”, who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

It stars Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Paul Giamatti, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michelle Yeoh, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook and Rose Leslie.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.

  1. It is remarkable that more people aren’t talking about this film – just look at the cast alone!

You’re right about this clever trailer. It gives n-o-t-h-i-n-g away, yet creates all kinds of tension. I’m betting it will be a “sleeper” hit!

    1. It really is! Seems like the type of movie that might pick up some steam just before its release as soon as people catch on to that cast. Looks fantastic!

  2. Well as a huge fan of The Witch (and Ana Taylor-Joy’s presence in it) I would be a lying douche if I didn’t mention how amped I am to see this. I heard about it here first!! As always!!

  3. Reflecting on how fucking awesome Ex Machina is real quick.

Okay, now on to this. This looks like it could be bloody brilliant (even with Kate Mara and all). Keeping my eyes peeled for this. Creepy!
