Written and directed by Larry Alan, his appropriately titled Hands is a wonderful short that has some fun with the notion that there might be a monster hiding under our beds. The story is simple as Crystal’s typical drunken night turns into something much more hands-y. With very little dialog, what’s really bringing it to life is the constant action and reaction between Crystal and the monster under her bed, which is absolutely hilarious. Her drunken obliviousness completely sells the film’s lighthearted tone, and its ending is as funny as it gets, so make sure you stay for the whole thing.
Hands is the first film in the “Antimity Tapes” series and stars Tara Hutchison as Crystal with Jeff Young and Brandon Toigo as The Hands. If you want to see more short films like Hands, be sure to check out the Short Round!
Tara Hutchinson is hilarious! I loved the cheekiness here, and that terrific surprise ending. This is a truly original take on the monster-under-the-bed trope.
Agreed! The ending totally got me. Great little gag!
