Cheap Thrills: VFW

Horror has never been more alive than it is right now and a lot of that stems from the understated indie gems that come out each and every month. They’re cheap, they’re thrilling, and they’re often some of the best films the genre has to offer. Cheap Thrills aims at highlighting the upcoming indie horror films (and some other interesting movies that come our way) that should be on your radar.

If indie horror had a beating heart, it would be the films of Joe Begos. The dude consistently creates some of the genre’s most authentic, purely entertaining films the indie world has to offer. Look no further than this year’s Bliss for proof, a blood-fueled shocker made on a shoe-string budget. His latest, VFW, has already been getting some high praise and now we finally have a trailer for the mutant punk thriller. It looks like it’s certainly living up to the Begos brand—gnarly practical effects, brain-melting soundtrack, and bloody mayhem all injected straight into your eyeballs.

A group of war veterans must defend their local VFW post and an innocent teen against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants.

VFW is out in theaters and VOD on February 14th. In the meantime, feast on more Cheap Thrills here.

If you are ever attacked by a gorilla just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of your limbs being ripped off.
