Now with two films to his name, I think it’s safe to say that Ari Aster is currently one of the most exciting directors in the horror genre. Whether you liked Hereditary and Midsommar or not, you must admit that is a hell of a one-two punch to start a filmmaking career. There’s a lot for artists to draw inspiration from when you look at Midsommar, especially from an aesthetic standpoint—the film’s vibrant colors, rich with themes of life and death, and its constant growing sense of fear and phobia created a unique experience.
Greg Ruth’s take on the film is stunning, perfectly capturing that same jarring sense of beauty and uncertainty. It not only works as a gorgeous piece of art on its own, but if you’ve seen the film then you know that Ruth has subtly created something terrifying here. Brilliant.

This is brilliant indeed! Ari Aster’s creative films do inspire some amazing pieces of art.
Right? It’s so good. I didn’t love the movie myself but I was really tempted to buy this poster when it dropped because it’s so damn good.
I haven’t seen the film, but I do agree this piece works on its own. It’s stunning.
